Mordacious is a relatively new artist out of the Los Angeles Area. He started making music when he was in his teens, and although he was involved with Death Metal then, his musical tastes have moved into the realm of the electronic. His music is still aggressive, but now, instead of scary metal that makes people want to mosh and bang their heads, he is aiming to make them dance. Take a brief tour through his mind and see for yourself.
Gothic Angst Webzine (GAW): How did you start making music?
Mordacious: I started playing music when I was 16. Started with guitar, was in and out of death metal bands, and when I was 19 I bought my first synthesizer. After that I went strictly electronic. Then as my gear list grew I started putting songs together, and began recording in 2005.
GAW: When did you get into the Goth/Industrial scene?
Mordacious: I started getting into the scene when I was 17. there was a local goth/industrial club here called club transmission, wasn’t around for long because there wasn’t much of a scene here. One of the DJs would get me in and I loved the music. After that I started going to perversion and some other clubs frequently in la and Hollywood..
GAW: You have said you are working on a new album. What direction are you taking sonically?
Mordacious: With my new CD I’m going for a heavier more aggressive sound on the harder tracks. And some softer ones that are more melodic. I also have a new recording setup so the quality will be much better. I have already recorded two new tracks and am very pleased with the direction it’s going and I know the fans will be too.

GAW: When can we expect to see the release of your new album? Have you titled it yet?
Mordacious: I’m shooting to have it done by January, so maybe a February/March release. I have not titled it yet.
GAW: Do you perform with any other people when you play live, or is it more of a one-man show?
Mordacious: Right now I perform solo, some clubs have an issue with that, but when I start touring I will probably bring in one more person.. I don’t want to bring in a bunch of people that have nothing to do with the creation of my music, and then say they are part of the band.
GAW: Since the Das Bunker 10th anniversary is still fairly fresh: Being that you are from the LA county area have you played at Das Bunker?
Mordacious: I have not played there. I have sent demos for consideration but never heard back. I just need to go in person but I’ve been busy working and recording so I haven’t had much time to get out that way and get to the clubs with my new material.
GAW: Since you make electronic music then I would like to know, aside from performing live, do you ever do any DJ sets?
Mordacious: I haven’t done any DJ sets, I’ve considered it but since I live kind of far from clubs so it would be more of a hassle. But I have plans to move closer to Hollywood by January for a recording engineer school, so we will see what happens.
GAW: Do you have any tours planned for the new year?
Mordacious: I’m looking to setup a tour during mid/late 07, California and Florida for sure. I will be trying to set up dates after the release of my next album.
